Can I get the £9,000 grant?
Only if all of these are true:
- Your home has no mains gas connection, and has never had a gas meter (a capped meter still counts as connected).
- It's heated by oil or LPG now.
- You're fitting an air source or ground source heat pump.
- The application is made by 31 March 2027.
Otherwise the grant is £7,500.

No. Your installer applies. On our installs, Ample handles the application and the grant comes off your price.
Can I get a grant for a hybrid system?
No. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme doesn't fund hybrid systems that pair a heat pump with a gas or oil boiler.
2Your house
Will a heat pump keep us warm in winter?
It should, when it's sized properly. That's what the survey is for: every room's heat loss is calculated for cold conditions where you live, and the heat pump is chosen to match.
Will all my radiators need changing?
Not usually all of them. A heat pump runs cooler water than a boiler, so some rooms may need a larger radiator. The heat loss calculation shows exactly which ones.
Where does the outdoor unit go?
Somewhere outside with good airflow, usually against a wall or on a base close to the house. The survey looks at the options for your home and the noise check that comes with them.
Do I need a hot water cylinder?
Most homes with a heat pump do, because a heat pump heats and stores water rather than heating it instantly like a combi boiler. The survey sizes it to your household.
3Costs
Will my electricity bill go up?
Yes, your electricity use goes up, and your gas or oil bill goes away. What that means overall depends on your house and your tariff, so the proposal after your survey sets out running costs for your home rather than a general promise.
Can I spread the cost?
Yes. Finance options are available through Ample, subject to status. They're set out in your proposal.
4Certification and aftercare
Are you MCS certified?
Our heat pumps are installed under the MCS certification of our partner Ample (Fornax Energy Ltd). That certification is what makes your install eligible for the grant.
Who services it afterwards?
We do. Heat pump servicing starts from £150 a year, and there are maintenance plans from £12.99 a month.
